Giving First

As the holiday shopping season nears, a coalition of more than 40 local nonprofits are leading a coordinated effort to emphasize the importance of supporting our communities through a campaign called Giving First on Tuesday, November 23, 2021.

The Giving First date flips the script by coming one week before Giving Tuesday, which traditionally falls after Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday shopping and has been a day of giving for many nonprofits. Local nonprofits put the community first all year long and is grateful to the community for helping to put our mission first this giving season.

Giving First was successfully piloted by the Urban Ecology Center (UEC) in 2020. When other organizations asked if they could borrow the idea, a coordinated effort was born.

“Community Smiles Dental holds community collaboration as a key pillar to our success and impact. We are thrilled to be a part of this new collaboration to celebrate philanthropy and the generosity of our community during the holiday season. Simply put, we are better together and this joint non-profit effort allows those willing to donate this holiday season to help us do more together,” Renee Ramirez, Community Smiles Dental Chief Executive Officer.
