Job Summary:

Join Our Mission for Healthier Smiles Community Smiles Dental (CSD) is seeking an energetic and compassionate team-oriented dentist to join our team and support our Waukesha and Menomonee Falls clinic locations. About the Job: The Dentist plays an important role in patient care: they primarily work collaboratively with our clinical team to provide compassionate and high quality dental care to all of our patients. They help lead our team to provide the best dental care we can within our daily schedule and work as a team to do it!

Duties & Responsibilities

Mission Accountabilities:
1.) Upholds the mission, vision, and core values of Community Smiles Dental by consistently demonstrating inclusivity, professionalism, quality, compassion, and community in all aspects of the roles.
2.) Collaborate with CSD’s Leadership team to build a highly inclusive culture where team members can thrive and represent CSD’s core values to the best of their ability.
3.) Maintains strong and positive working and interpersonal relationships with all employed at Community Smiles Dental including interns, externs and volunteers.
4.)Understands and is able to comply with all employment policies and procedures defined by Community Smiles Dental.
Major Accountabilities:
1.) Diagnose and treat oral diseases, injuries, and malformations; develop individualized treatment plans and perform routine and complex dental procedures to ensure optimal oral health outcomes.
2.) Maintain a high standard of patient care and clinical excellence by adhering to all regulatory, ethical, and infection control standards, while also mentoring and supervising dental support staff as needed.
3.) Ensure accurate and timely completion of patient records, treatment documentation, and billing codes; contribute to the growth and reputation of the practice through professional conduct and community engagement.
General Responsibilities:
  • Daily operations responsibilities include:

    • Arriving at 7:30am to set up first operatories, sterilization and ensure prepared for morning huddle at 7:50am.

    • Working collaboratively as a team with CSD Hygienists and Dental Assistants to ensure all patients are seen on time and in between, infection control routines are followed in regards to room turnover and sterilization.

    • Ensures that rooms are properly stocked and organized, dental materials and supplies are organized and put away and contributes to an organized sterilization and lab ensuring all instruments and handpieces are properly put away.

    • Ensures that rooms are properly shut down and sterilization is cleaned up at the end of the clinic day and that patient schedules for the following day are prepped and ready for huddle.

  • Leadership responsibilities include:

    • Acts as a role model for the clinic team in exhibiting our core values with patients and other team members throughout the clinic day and setting the pace for our team.

    • Works collaboratively with all CSD Dentists and Hygienists to develop treatment plans and provide care for our patient population.

    • Is an active coach/mentor for all of our Dental Assistants, working with the Clinical Manager to help develop and train our Dental Assistants.

    • Uses network of dental professionals and motivates others who may share the same desire to be a part of our mission at CSD to join our team.

    • Complies with all applicable federal, state, local and organization rules, regulations, protocols and procedures governing the practice of dentistry and the clinical provision of dental care.

    • Adheres to and coaches others to follow policies, workplace safety guidelines and confidentiality rules to reduce risk and liability.

  • Patient Care responsibilities include:

    • Understands role as a member of our Dentist team to positively impact CSD’s standard of care for our patient populations.

    • Exemplifies excellent patient care skills by compassionately caring for and treating patients of diverse backgrounds who also have diverse medical and dental needs.

    • Records patient-Dentist interactions as they occur in the patient’s electronic dental record to ensure that records accurately and completely reflect the nature of the interaction, the condition of the patient and the care or treatment provided.

    • Effectively communicates with patients and their parents/guardians to educate them on how to practice good oral hygiene and prevent future decay.

    • Maximizes productivity and earned revenue potential by prioritizing providing treatment to patients when a missed appointment occurs or the opportunity presents itself.

  • All other duties as assigned.

 
 
 
Requirements:

Minimum:

  • Ability to understand, demonstrate and support the mission, vision and core values of Community Smiles Dental.

  • DDS or DMD degree from an accredited dental school.

  • Unrestricted license to practice general dentistry in the state of Wisconsin.

  • Must not be excluded from participation in federal healthcare programs.

  • Current CPR (BLS) from the American Heart Association or Red Cross and the ability to recertify/renew on a biannual basis.

  • Current DEA license from the U.S. Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Agency and the ability to recertify/renew every 3 years.

  • Ability to maintain continuing education (CE) requirements as outlined by the Wisconsin Dental Examining Board and the Department of Safety and Professional Services.

Preferred:

  • Completion of a general practice residency program.

  • At least one year of experience practicing dentistry.

  • At least one year of experience in a related, community-based or nonprofit dental clinic using public dental health principles and practices.

  • Proficient in Dentrix or comparable dental electronic health record system and Google Office Suite.

  • Ability to effectively communicate orally in Spanish with patients and families including the use of dental terminology.

  • Prior experience with treating children and patients with special health care needs; however, not necessarily a pediatric specialist.

  • Wisconsin Medicaid and HMO credentialed provider (credentialing can be completed by CSD Director of Operations).

Job Summary:

Community Smiles Dental (CSD) is seeking an energetic and compassionate team-oriented dental assistant to join our team and support our Waukesha and Menomonee Falls locations. Our dental assistants play an important role in patient care: they primarily assist our dentists chairside and provide professional and compassionate care to our patients. Our dental assistants are an integral part of our clinical team: they work collaboratively to ensure that our team stays on time throughout the day and that from chairside to room turnover to sterilization we are set up for success as a team.

Duties & Responsibilities

Major Responsibility Areas

  • Supports mission, vision and core values of Community Smiles Dental emphasizing high quality and compassionate patient care through working as a team with other dental assistants and our team of dentists. 
  • Maintains strong and positive working and interpersonal relationships with all employed at Community Smiles Dental including interns, externs and volunteers. 
  • Understands and is able to comply with all employment policies and procedures defined by Community Smiles Dental. 
  • Performs duties and responsibilities under the following major responsibility areas: chairside assisting, patient care, infection control and daily operations.
  • Patient care and chairside assisting responsibilities include:
    • Models “Tell Show Do” at every appointment with patients to educate them about their dental healthcare.
    • Assists multiple dentists with chairside treatment of CSD patients including children, pregnant women, patients with special health care needs, and adults.
    • Can proficiently set up rooms for all procedures within our scope of service and assist dentists with those procedures. 
    • Works with a sense of urgency to ensure rooms are set up and taken down in a timely fashion, patient appointments occur according to schedule and all patient notes are completed before seating the next patient. 
    • Takes diagnostic radiographs following CSD Radiology Protocol. 
    • Accurately charts conditions of decay and disease for diagnosis and treatment by dentist.
    • Delivers thorough and easy to understand post-operative instructions to patients and patients’ parents/guardians at the end of each appointment including medications and referrals for specialty care.
    • Facilitates pre-authorizations, adult treatment contracts and referrals for specialty care in collaboration with clinical manager and dentist.
    • Partners with patient care coordinators to help ensure future appointments are set up and scheduled accurately. 
  • Infection control responsibilities include: 
    • Assist in compliance with policies and procedures relative to infection control, exposure control, safety, and HIPAA issues.
    • Supports clinical cleanliness and infection control through thorough room turnover and following manufacturer guidelines as they relate to proper instrument sterilization.
    • Follows clinic guidelines in terms of PPE usage to protect self and others from infectious diseases. 
  • Daily operations responsibilities include: 
    • Arriving at 7:30am to set up first operatories, sterilization and ensure prepared for morning huddle at 7:50am. 
    • Working collaboratively as a team with CSD dentists, hygienists and other dental assistants to ensure all patients are seen on time and in between, infection control routines are followed in regards to room turnover and sterilization.

Preferred Requirements 

  • At least one year of experience working as a dental assistant. 
  • Prior experience in a community-based or nonprofit sector organization. 
  • Proficient in Dentrix or comparable dental electronic health record system and 
  • Familiar with navigating in the Google Office Suite.
  • Bilingual-English/Spanish to effectively communicate orally in Spanish with patients and families including the use of dental terminology.

Community Smiles Dental (CSD) is seeking an energetic and compassionate team-oriented dental hygienist to join our team and support our Menomonee Falls location. Our dental hygienists play an important role in patient care: they primarily provide preventative oral hygiene instruction during prophylaxis appointments helping our patients understand the current state of their dental health and how they can take steps to improve it. Our dental hygienists are an integral part of our clinical team ensuring that by collaborating with our dentists, we become the dental home for our patients.

Duties & Responsibilities

Major Responsibility Areas

  • Supports mission, vision and core values of Community Smiles Dental emphasizing early intervention and prevention through clinical work and patient care.
  • Maintains strong and positive working and interpersonal relationships with all employed at Community Smiles Dental including interns, externs and volunteers.
  • Understands and is able to comply with all employment policies and procedures defined by Community Smiles Dental.
  • Performs duties and responsibilities under the following major responsibility areas: patient care, infection control and daily operations.
  • Patient Care responsibilities include:
    • Models “Tell Show Do” at each appointment to help build trust with patients.
    • Teaches patients and patients’ parents/guardians how to practice good oral hygiene at home and in between prophylaxis appointments.
    • Records patient-hygienist interactions as they occur in the patient’s electronic dental record so that the dental record accurately and completely reflects the nature of the interaction, the condition of the patient and the care or treatment provided.
    • Provide clinical oral hygiene services including dental prophylaxis, scaling, sealant application, fluoride application, periodontal screening and administering local anesthetic consistent with accepted professional practices and standards and in compliance with applicable state law and clinical protocols.
    • Exemplifies excellent patient care skills, including the ability to compassionately care for and treat patients of diverse backgrounds who also have diverse medical and dental needs.
    • Take and develop dental radiographs in accordance with CSD’s Standard Radiograph protocol.
    • Integration of appropriate patient dental hygiene care with CSD dentists and other healthcare professionals involved in the patient’s health care management.
    • Works with a sense of urgency to ensure room is set up and taken down in a timely fashion, patients appointments occur according to schedule and all patient notes are completed before seating the next patient.
    • Uses feedback given from Clinical Manager and Director of Operations in order to meet clinic production goals.
    • Maximizes down time to support clinic operations such as sterilization, instrument sharpening and general supply organization.
    • Perform independent procedures in accordance with state regulations and law in settings such as an in-school sealant program and/or medical dental integration facility.
  • Workplace safety/Infection control responsibilities include:
    • Complies with all applicable federal, state, local and organization rules, regulations, protocols and procedures governing the practice of dental hygiene and the clinical provision of dental care.
    • Adheres to following personnel policies, workplace safety guidelines and confidentiality rules to reduce risk and liability.
    • Supports clinical cleanliness and infection control through thorough room turnover and following manufacturer guidelines as they relate to proper instrument sterilization.
    • Follows clinic guidelines in terms of PPE usage to protect self and others from infectious diseases.
  • Daily operations responsibilities include:
