Job Summary:Community Smiles Dental (CSD) is seeking an energetic and team-oriented Human Resource (HR) Generalist to join our team and support our organization through execution and ownership of HR processes that ensure compliance with applicable regulations and are consistent with best practices. Our HR Generalist plays an important role in supporting tactical HR functions including the areas of recruiting and onboarding, benefit administration, payroll, and compliance. In collaboration with the Vice President of Operations, our HR Generalist collaborates and supports HR strategy and people and culture initiatives. Duties & ResponsibilitiesMajor Responsibility Areas:
- Supports mission, vision and core values of Community Smiles Dental prioritizing accuracy and consistency in HR tactical functions while elevating and supporting HR strategy work.
- Maintains strong and positive working and interpersonal relationships with all employed at Community Smiles Dental including interns, externs and volunteers.
- Understands and is able to comply with all employment policies and procedures defined by Community Smiles Dental and internally, supports all other CSD team members in doing the same.
- Performs duties and responsibilities under the following major responsibility areas: supporting HR strategy, people and culture initiatives and compliance.
- Under the area of supporting HR strategy, this position will:
- Positively contributes to an HR culture where strategy is applied to proactively ensure that through all HR functions, CSD is able to retain its current team and successfully attract new talent as needed to meet the needs of our mission.
- Assists the vice president of operations with HR functions including HR analysis, trends and research, report preparation and record keeping.
- Supports execution of HR goals that are part of CSD’s larger operational strategy.
- Under the area of people and culture initiatives, this position will:
- Positively contributes to a highly inclusive culture where all team members, interns, externs and volunteers can thrive and represent CSD’s core values to the best of their abilities.
- Initiates, develops and implements multi-channel communication strategies related to HR topics with team members to ensure CSD team has access to accurate, comprehensive and timely HR information.
- Maximizes the use of Paylocity to ensure that as our HRM, Paylocity is a core component of our HR foundation.
- Performs all duties associated with recruitment and selection including, but not limited to posting open positions to job boards, reviewing resumes, contacting and screening candidates and scheduling interviews between candidates and CSD leadership and initiating background and reference check processes.
- Coordinates new team member paperwork throughout the onboarding process and leads orientation processes for new team members.
- Coordinates new team member training through the creation of comprehensive training and onboarding plans in collaboration with other CSD leaders.
- Leads the coordination and execution of the annual review process.
- Coordinates execution of internal CSD team events including team meetings, team training, holiday, work anniversary milestones and other special occasions for CSD’s team.
- Ensures the termination process is implemented in a timely, accurate and comprehensive manner.
- Under the area of compliance, this position will:
- Acts as an information resource for current and prospective CSD team members regarding HR policies, procedures, and benefits.
- Ensures compliance with HR legal requirements and monitors best practices bringing them to the attention of the vice president of operations as needed.
- Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
- Works with payroll administrators to ensure compliance with legal requirements, resolve team member issues, implement possible upgrades and produce necessary reports.
- Maintains electronic and paper files related to human resource and personnel information including ensuring security and confidentiality of the information and periodic audits.
- Performs full scope of benefit administration activities including at time of hire, during open enrollment and at time of separation.
- Acts as point of contact for 3rd party benefit administrators in collaboration with the Vice President of Operations.
- Responds to and monitors claims of unemployment and advises Vice President of Operations of hearing schedules.

Minimum Requirements

- Prior experience with payroll and time and labor systems.
- Ability to work in multiple clinical and administrative locations based on a schedule and priories as they relate to the team.
Preferred Requirements
- Prior experience in related, community-based or nonprofit human resource management.

- SHRM-CP certification is preferred.

Our dental assistants play an important role in patient care: they primarily assist our dentists chairside and provide professional and compassionate care to our patients. Our dental assistants are an integral part of our clinical team: they work collaboratively to ensure that our team stays on time throughout the day and that from chairside to room turnover to sterilization we are set up for success as a team.

- Take and develop dental radiographs in accordance with CSD’s Standard Radiograph protocol.
